Directions and Parking

Plan ahead to know how to get here and where to park to ensure you arrive before the planetarium doors close for the show!

Entering the Planetarium

After 6:00 PM you must use the last entrance next to the blue "White Hall" sign — this is also the accessible and stroller-friendly entrance.

  • From Willey Street, enter White Hall by way of either of the main doors and turn toward the center of the building.
  • Take the elevator to PL Floor. 
  • The planetarium is just to the right off the elevator.

Location and Directions

Planetarium Location

The West Virginia University Planetarium is located in the Department of Physics and Astronomy on the PL Floor of White Hall at 135 Willey Street .

Please note that we cannot answer the telephone while in the planetarium, so call or email in advance to assure there's time to get your message returned!  If, during the day on Friday, we have significant snow and/or bad ice conditions on the road, there will be no shows.

Parking

There are many parking options available around the planetarium. Many garages and lots are within walking distance and cost around $1.25 per hour to park. 

Bus Routes

The closest bus stop to White Hall is in front of the Mountain Lair. Mountain Line Transit Authority is the city wide bus system and costs $0.75 per ride. Note MLTA is free for WVU students and faculty. 

Driving Directions

Get Google directions to White Hall at 135 Willey Street .

Coming from the south on I-79 N:

  • From I-79 N, merge onto I-68 E toward Cumberland. 
  • Take Exit 1 (US-119) toward University Avenue/downtown. 
  • Turn left onto US-119 and follow it 4 miles into Morgantown. US-119 becomes University Avenue. 
  • Turn right onto Pleasant St/US-119N/WV-7E. 
  • Turn left onto Spruce St/US-119N. 
  • Turn left onto Willey St/US-119. Continue 2 blocks on Willey Street. 
  • White Hall is on the right just past Wesley Methodist Church. 

Coming from the north on I-79 S:

  • Take Exit 155 from I-79 S toward WV-7/West Virginia University. 
  • Turn left onto Chaplin Hill Road/Osage Road. 
  • Turn slight right onto US-19/ WV-7. Keep to the right on US-19. You will pass the WVU Coliseum on the right at the top of the hill. US-19 becomes Monongahela Blvd then becomes Beechurst Avenue. 
  • Turn left onto Fayette St. then take the first left onto Chestnut St. 
  • Turn left onto Willey St. White Hall is in front of you. Turn left onto Willey St. Paid parking is available in several lots downtown.
